Targets Per Route Run: Week 14 (Fantasy Football)

Welcome back to the weekly Targets Per Route Run Report. Is that the first round of playoffs calling?! Hopefully, you all have your first round byes locked up. But if not, let’s dive into these target rates and see where we can pip our competition for a spot in the matchups that matter.

Quick refresher: TPRR = targets ÷ routes run. It’s an on-field efficiency signal that often leads production by a week or two. Throughout this series, if you see a percentage after a player’s name, that is his TPRR unless otherwise indicated.

As a general guideline, anything below ~20% is risky; 25–30% is excellent, and anything above 30% is elite territory.

Week 13 TPRR Leaders

Week 13 TPRR for WRs

Data: pff.com

Takeaways From Week 13

  • Welcome back, Terry McLaurin! Despite playing roughly half the offensive snaps in his first action since Week 8, Scary Terry and Zach Ertz (32.6% TPRR) were Marcus Mariota‘s favorite targets. Each garnered 14 targets in the losing effort against Denver. It’s an encouraging sign, and hopefully it continues when Jayden Daniels returns in Week 14 or 15. A word of caution, though; we have seen McLaurin have these spike weeks and come back down to earth. This could be a factor of a strong Denver defense bottling up Deebo Samuel (16% TPRR). McLaurin has never been a big target earner over his teammates, so there is a good bit of risk putting him right back in your lineup. When F1 was the WR6 in 2024, he finished the season with a 19% TPRR.
  • If there was ever a time to trust Jameson Williams, it’s now. A week after laying an egg against the Giants, Williams blew up with Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle), leaving the game early. ARSB looks unlikely to make his recovery in time for Thursday Night Football, so the top spot is up to Williams. Rookie Isaac TeSlaa has barely been used this season, but he’s a TD-or-bust option as a flyer, and I’m curious to see what his involvement could be with Detroit’s receiving corps decimated.
  • Joshua Palmer (31% TPRR) appears pretty high on this list, but barely hit the route minimum. Josh Allen needs someone to step up, certainly, but Palmer hasn’t played more than 50% of snaps since his return from injury. He could be worth a flyer in much deeper leagues, but I’m not ready to trust him in my lineups.

Week 14 and Beyond

  • After starting the season on fire, Rome Odunze has been a liability in your lineups since Week 6. And it’s not as if DJ Moore has established any sort of consistency to hang your hat on, either. Well, he’s been consistently bad, posting only one weekly TPRR above 20% all season. Yikes. The Bears are winning in the real world, and Caleb Williams has provided more fantasy value to the TE and RB positions, so I wouldn’t expect much to change. I’m not pinning my playoff hopes on Moore or Odunze until proven otherwise.
  • A.J. Brown might be heating up just in time for the playoffs. It’s concerning to note that Brown’s increase in fantasy production is happening as the Eagles are dropping games. But you are not benching Brown, and it looks like he’s reestablished himself as the Eagles’ WR1.
  • Troy Franklin‘s streak of five consecutive games over 24% TPRR ended in Week 13 with Denver coming out of their bye. From a TPRR perspective, Franklin is a more reliable option than Courtland Sutton and probably carries higher upside, as well.  Franklin also leads Sutton 14-8 in red zone targets this season, so I’m closing my eyes and trusting the stats that the Washington game is merely a blip in an otherwise ascendant season for Franklin.
