Welcome to the FanDuel cash game breakdown for Week 9 of the 2024 NFL season. We’ve got another big 13-game main slate, which means we have a boatload of cash-viable plays, but a lack of free squares makes this one a particularly tough puzzle. As a reminder for cash games, we look to build rosters around players with steady volume and solid floor-ceiling combinations, while also trying to take advantage of not one but two late-swap opportunities with the Sunday night game still offered as part of the main slate. With all that in mind, let’s break down the top plays to help you craft a winning cash game lineup on FanDuel this week.
Quarterbacks
Josh Allen – $9000
This is a tough week to pay up at quarterback because we don’t have any true discounts for cash games at the flex positions, but we need to mention quarterbacks who are in the “you can always play them” category, and it starts with Allen this week, at home as six-point favorites in a high-total game against the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins’ defense ranks 19th in points allowed per play, and while Miami has been particularly strong against the quarterback position this year in terms of fantasy points allowed, a lot of that has to do with game script, as teams did not need to put up a ton of points in order to win while quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was out for Miami. The points allowed per play ranking gives us an idea of how susceptible this defense is when a team has to put the pedal to the metal like Buffalo might have to do. Currently fifth among quarterbacks in fantasy points per game, Allen has scored three times as a rusher, fifth best among quarterbacks, and passed for 14 touchdowns this year, also fifth best.
