Weather was at the forefront of this week’s Thursday night game as the Steelers and Browns had quite an entertaining game during a snowstorm. For you weather nerds who like numbers (I know you’re reading this article!), the official snowfall accumulation during the game was 0.08 inches and the game had a max wind of 13 miles per hour. So while it may have looked like a massive snowstorm, it wasn’t really that bad, as I type this from the comfort of my office.. I’m sure on the field it wasn’t great.
At the end of the night, it was still a decent fantasy game for a lot of both Browns and Steelers. So what can we learn from this? Weather is one factor among many in the game of fantasy football. So, read your weather reports and your injury reports. Oh yeah, and check the matchups. That’s all you have to do to win fantasy!
Read below to see what is in store for this weekend’s slate of games.
Early Afternoon Games
Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears
MEDIUM impact. It’ll be a cool and slightly windy day in Chicago. Winds will be in the low teens, gusting up to the high teens so keep an eye on pregame reports. Temperatures during game time will be in the low teens.
New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins
LOW impact. Mostly clear? Light winds? Temperatures in the low 70s? Sounds like a beautiful day for football! No impacts here.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New York Giants
MEDIUM impact. It’s going to be a windy one throughout the game with wind speeds in the mid-teens with gusts up to the low 30s. Kickers will likely feel the impacts and there will likely be some impacts with the deep balls. Start your studs, just be ready to flex as needed.
Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Commanders
LOW impact. Sunny skies, light winds, and temperatures in the upper 50s. No impacts. Start all your usual studs.
Kansas City Chiefs @ Carolina Panthers
LOW impact. Another really nice game for Sunday. Light winds, temperatures in the mid-60s, and mostly clear. Don’t worry about the weather during this game.
Afternoon Games
San Francisco 49ers @ Green Bay Packers
LOW impact. It’ll be mostly cloudy with relatively light winds during the first half. I am expecting some rain to creep in around the second half but it’s not looking like a significant amount. Check again in on Sunday morning, but it should be fine during the game.
Arizona Cardinals @ Seattle Seahawks
MEDIUM impact. It’s going to be a wet day in Seattle. There’s currently a 70% chance of rain during game time with winds in the low teens. The projected wind speeds are why I’m keeping this in the “medium” range of impacts. It’ll likely be similar to other wet games we’ve had in Seattle this year.
Weather is a dynamic thing and can change! Keep an eye on your local weather source leading up to kickoff to see if anything changes significantly. Good luck!
