Buongiorno from Italy, FootClan! Welcome to Week 6 of our QB2 and SuperFlex discussion.
If you joined us last week, then congratulations to you and your teams. We were fortunate to hit on all three of our QB2 options, while I spent the afternoon doing Kirk Cousins dances from my living room.

Player Highlighted | Week 5 Ranking | Week 5 Finish |
Joe Flacco | 15 | 4 |
Trevor Lawrence | 18 | 10 |
Caleb Williams | 19 | 6 |
You can’t ask for much more than that.
We also added four new QB1 performances to this season’s list, turning our official number to 29. Those of you already here probably don’t need to hear this, but this alone shows the importance of switching your leagues to 2QB or SuperFlex. QB is the most important position in sports, but 1QB leagues devalue the position, and our list below shows how “streaming” QBs can be a perfectly viable strategy:
Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield, Jalen Hurts, Jayden Daniels, Anthony Richardson, Lamar Jackson, Derek Carr, Geno Smith, CJ Stroud, Tua Tagovailoa, Jordan Love, Matthew Stafford, Kyler Murray, Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones, Kirk Cousins, Joe Burrow, Deshaun Watson, Aaron Rodgers, Dak Prescott, Brock Purdy, Malik Willis, Andy Dalton, Justin Fields, Jared Goff, Joe Flacco, Caleb Williams, Bo Nix, Trevor Lawrence
Today we’ll identify three new QBs (ranked outside the Ballers’ top 12) who display QB1 upside in Week 6. To reference the Ballers’ Week 6 QB Rankings, be sure to click here!
13. Kirk Cousins
I know, I know. Kirk Cousins at QB13 is low-hanging fruit, but we haven’t talked about Kirk yet this season, and he deserves some love after his swag-surfing, record-setting performance during Matt Ryan’s Ring of Honor induction with the Falcons last week.

The argument for Cousins is pretty straightforward. After 509 yards, four passing touchdowns, and an OT win last week, the Falcons now travel to Carolina to take on a lowly Panthers team ranking 27th in PPG to opposing QBs. This defense has been a fantasy funnel all season, and with several more defensive injuries, they will continue to be for the foreseeable future.
It would appear the rapport between Cousins and his young receiving core has finally begun hitting its stride, and as someone with presumably the most Darnell Mooney shares in the world, you certainly love to see it.
WR Darnell Mooney (ATL): We might have to start believing that Mooney is a weekly start consideration. A team high SIXTEEN TARGETS! He’s averaging over 9 targets a game over his last four games.

But even outside of our world of fantasy, it’s exciting on a personal level to root for a 36-year-old QB who spent the offseason rehabbing a torn Achilles, was forced to uproot his family to another city, and watched his new team draft his succession plan in the first round.
That’s a tough go at it, you go, Glen Coco.
My fear in this matchup – and really what should happen – is that the Falcons get an early lead, and use this as an opportunity to establish their generational RB in Bijan Robinson.
The Panthers are currently dead last in PPG to opposing RBs, just lost LB Shaq Thompson (achilles) to IR last week, and LBs Jadeveon Clowney (shoulder) and Josey Jewell (hamstring) have both been unable to practice as of Thursday afternoon. The Falcons come in as six point favorites, with the fourth-highest team-implied total of 27 points. We’ve yet to see a huge Bijan game this season, but you couldn’t dream up a better situation for him.
After being picked apart by rookie Caleb Williams last week (QB8), this should be a dream matchup for Kirk. However, with PFF’s third-highest OL/DL mismatch, there is certainly a world where the Falcons commit to the run, and keep his upside capped, unlike last week.
Based on the projected game script, I do think it’s more likely that Kirk finishes in the high-end QB2 range this week, but if the Panthers can find a way to keep themselves in this game, there will be plenty of upside once again for probably the dorkiest QB in the league.
You like that? Yeah. You like that.
“YOU LIKE THAT?!”

15. Jared Goff
Although our millennial minds are trained to forget anything except for what’s happening right in front of us at this very moment, it’s important to remember that only a few years ago, Jared Goff was left for dead by both the fantasy community and Sean McVay.
This is a guy who went from being the first overall pick in the NFL draft to being practically given away (with a slew of picks) to anyone who would take him. He went from a Super Bowl contender to a laughing stock of a franchise that hadn’t seen a winning season in most of our lifetimes. He went from being a 21-year-old beloved millionaire in Los Angeles, California, to a 25-year-old scapegoat in Detroit, Michigan. The future couldn’t have looked more grim for the young, Walmart Ryan Gosling.
But nobody expected this. Nobody expected him to be a long-term part of this team’s rebuild. Nobody expected him to turn this franchise into a contender. Nobody expected to see stat lines like 18-for-18 for 292 yards and two touchdowns like we did in Week 4 against Seattle. After 20+ years of failure in Detroit, it’s hard not to root for Goff and this kneecap-biting Lions team.

Fresh off a bye, Detroit enters Week 6 rested and healthy, as they travel to Dallas to take on a Cowboys team that has struggled to find their identity since the departure of former DC Dan Quinn. Despite boasting one of the league’s most talented defenses over the past three years, the Cowboys have done absolutely nothing to stop opposing offenses this season, ranking in the bottom half of the league in PPG in both passing (20th) and rushing (28th).
These metrics don’t bode well for Dallas this week, who already have two edge defenders on IR (DeMarcus Lawrence and Durrell Johnson), and may also be without Micah Parsons (ankle) and Marshawn Kneeland (knee). Although their B-team performed well against Pittsburgh last week, they will be up for a far more difficult challenge against Detroit’s second-ranked offensive line and a far more explosive offense averaging 26 PPG so far this season. If just a few of those rushing touchdowns fall his way, his numbers could jump quickly and significantly.
But let’s focus on Goff.
Despite the team’s 3-1 start, Goff surprisingly sits at QB17 in PPG this season. This has very little representation on his actual performance thus far, because the truth is, he simply hasn’t been needed to do that much.
The narrative has always been “Start Goff at home and in domes,” however, the power of this offensive line and one-two punch at RB has been nearly unstoppable this season, averaging 151 yards/game on the ground, with both backs coming in top nine in fantasy PPG.
The Lions are averaging 26 PPG (seventh in the league), and are the beneficiaries of yet another year of brilliance behind OC Ben Johnson’s playcalling. The difference this year is that the defense is finally capable of holding opposing offenses in check. While this is great news for the Lions and their fans, it has already come to the detriment of Jared Goff’s fantasy performances.
Their defense has performed well so far, but they haven’t faced many offenses like the star-studded Cowboys, who just may have the offensive firepower to keep this game close. If so, we can expect a higher passing volume for Goff, which could very well vault him into QB1 territory.
As three-point road favorites, the Lions have the second-highest team-implied point total (27.75), and with a league-high O/U of 52.5, Vegas is projecting a high-scoring shootout. If this script comes to fruition, Goff may just see his second straight QB1 finish of the season.
Goff is a good QB. Loved him on the Rams, bummed when the trade took place & happy to see him doing well (minus last night), but this is laughable. Don’t forget how much draft compensation they demanded to take on Goff because they didn’t believe in him.

18. Daniel Jones
Nobody wants to admit it, but Daniel Jones has been…kind of good recently.

Even without Malik Nabers and Devin Singletary, the Giants came to play last week, upsetting Seattle on the road 29-20. For fantasy purposes, New York surprisingly posted a QB1 (Jones), WR1 (Darius Slayton), WR2 (Wan’Dale Robinson), and an RB2 (Tyrone Tracy), bringing them to 2-3 on the season and stacking up tons of useless points on your bench.
This week, Jones and Co. will once again be underdogs at home against a Cincinnati defense considered weakest in EPA (expected points added) per play across the league. The Bengals have been a shell of themselves early this season, starting 1-4 after suffering a heartbreaking missed field goal against Baltimore that would inevitably cost them the game. While the offense has started to pick up, the defense has become a run-and-pass funnel, and one we should be attacking this week.
Entering Week 6, Cincinnati ranks 28th in PPG against opposing QBs and just lost starting perimeter CB Dax Hill (ranked 36th in coverage of 100 qualified players) for the season with an ACL tear. They also rank in the bottom half (21st) against opposing RBs, leaving plenty of opportunity for the Giants’ offense to move the ball and build on their recent momentum.
While you’ll likely never hear me suggest Jones in a 1QB league, QB18 feels potentially low for the QB14 on the season in what appears to be a dream matchup. Unfortunately, Malik Nabers has been ruled out again, which severely inhibits Jones’ upside, but he quietly has the legs and matchup to keep him in this conversation.
The Giants are tied for 12th with a team-implied total of 22.5, and as 3.5-point underdogs, will likely be vying for a comeback against a star-studded Cincinnati offense. With the sixth-highest O/U on the slate (49), this game has all the makings of a potential shootout.
But most importantly, we have to assume that Jones is aware of these discussions and knows he needs to continue playing well to turn this into fruition.
