Amidst the divisional breakdowns, the Fantasy Footballers took a slight detour in mid-July to conduct a mock draft, assessing their player rankings and gaining insight into various team builds.
The mock draft used the following settings: 12 teams starting 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, and a FLEX with four bench spots and half-PPR.
Jason, who had been getting later spots in earlier mock drafts this year, drew the 1.02 for this one. Andy selected from the 1.08 position, and Mike found himself selecting from the 1.10 position (would his favorite, Christian McCaffrey, fall to him there?)
Round 1
Jason – Bijan Robinson, Andy – Derrick Henry, Mike – Ashton Jeanty
After consensus No. 1 overall pick Ja’Marr Chase got drafted first by Producer “Owl” Borland, Jason didn’t hesitate to take his No. 1 RB off the board, Bijan Robinson, who he also said on last week’s show would play all 17 games, so we all know who is to blame if that’s not the case. Saquon Barkley almost fell to Andy at the 1.08 but got selected right before him, leaving him with the decision to take Derrick Henry after the WR tier break. Spoiler Alert: CMC wasn’t there for Mike to draft at 1.10, so he went with the rookie Ashton Jeanty.
Round 2
Jason – Jonathan Taylor, Andy – A.J. Brown, Mike – Brian Thomas Jr.
After all three Ballers took RBs to start the draft, Mike followed his rankings and took Brian Thomas Jr. as his WR1. Andy’s WR6, according to his rankings, A.J. Brown, was available for him to draft. Jason saw more value in the RBs available at the 2.11, including Kyren Williams, Josh Jacobs, and Jonathan Taylor, instead of going WR. Jason landed on Taylor to give him an RB-RB start in this mock draft.
Round 3
Jason – Tee Higgins, Andy – Rashee Rice, Mike – George Kittle
While Kyren was still available at the start of the third round, Jason decided against going ultra “High T” and opted to take his first WR, Tee Higgins. Andy decided to do something that the guys were surprised by, taking Rashee Rice at the 3.08. Mike thought he would be available for him at the 3.10 but Andy shocked the squad by taking a player he’s starting to come around on. Since Rice wasn’t available, Mike wasn’t too enthralled by the wideouts left at the back of the third round, so he went with George Kittle.
Round 4
Jason – DK Metcalf, Andy – Joe Mixon, Mike – Kenneth Walker III
The heart wants what the heart wants, and Mike’s heart wants “Ken Bone” Walker, so he grabbed his guy to start the fourth round. After doing a quick rankings check, Andy decided to go with another veteran in Joe Mixon over James Cook. Jason had two players on his board at 4.11 and went with DK Metcalf to pair with Higgins at the WR position. The other player he was thinking about was Joe Burrow to stack with Higgins, who Producer Borland took at the 5.01 to pair with his own Bengals WR in Chase.
Round 5
Jason – D.J. Moore, Andy – Jameson Williams, Mike – DeVonta Smith
With the “Big 5” QBs and “Big 3” TEs gone, Jason decided to keep his focus on RBs and WRs and went with his highest-rated WR in D.J. Moore. Terry McLaurin would have been Andy’s pick had he made it, but he went a few picks before, so Andy went with one of his favorite players in Jameson Williams. After taking a peek at the RBs, Mike grabbed DeVonta Smith as his WR2.

Round 6
Jason – Tony Pollard, Andy – Patrick Mahomes, Mike – Chris Olave
Mike was hoping TreVeyon Henderson would be available to him at the 6.03, but Betz snagged him a couple of picks before, so Mike took a high-upside but high-risk player in Chris Olave. Andy’s pick led to a surprise reaction from Jason and Mike after he selected Patrick Mahomes to complete the Mahomes-Rice stack. Jason wanted Kaleb Johnson, but the Falcon snagged him to Jason’s dismay, so he grabbed Tony Pollard as a consolation prize.
Round 7
Jason – T.J. Hockenson, Andy – Jayden Reed, Mike – Josh Downs
At the 7.02, Jason decided to fill his TE spot with T.J. Hockenson. Andy didn’t hesitate to take Jayden Reed at the 7.08 to add to his WR depth. Mike, who has been reminding the FootClan about Josh Downs all offseason, decided to take him at the end of the seventh round as his WR4.
Round 8
Jason – Jayden Higgins, Andy – Jerome Ford, Mike – J.K. Dobbins
Mike needed another RB to start the eighth round and was debating between Cam Skattebo and J.K. Dobbins, opting to draft the latter. Jason mentioned it was the right pick for his team, despite it not being a flashy pick. Also needing RB depth, Andy went with Jerome Ford, the de facto starting RB for the Cleveland Browns. With three RBs, three WRS, and a TE, Jason decided to take a player who he thinks could make the biggest impact this late in the draft and went with rookie Jayden Higgins.
Round 9
Jason – Jordan Mason, Andy – Emeka Egbuka, Mike – Austin Ekeler
To start the ninth round, Jason went with Jordan Mason, who should get work in tandem with Aaron Jones but also could skyrocket in value if Jones were to get hurt. Andy drafted a rookie wideout in Emeka Egbuka, and Mike wanted to build RB depth, so he went with Austin Ekeler.

Round 10
Jason – Michael Pittman Jr., Andy – David Njoku, Mike – Dak Prescott
With two picks left in this mock draft, Mike needed to fill his QB spot and went with Dak Prescott. Andy needed a TE and selected David Njoku, who he has ranked as his TE5. Former Mayors of Pitty City, Mike and Andy, both let Jason know that Michael Pittman in the tenth round is a solid selection.
Round 11
Jason – Kyler Murray, Andy – Quinshon Judkins, Mike – Quentin Johnston
For the final pick, Jason took Kyler Murray to finalize his team. Looking back at his decision to take Metcalf over Burrow in the fourth round, Jason was happy with the path he took, getting Murray all the way in Round 11. Andy selected Quinshon Judkins to back up his earlier pick of Ford. Mike decided to get nasty with his last pick and drafted Quentin Johnson. With news that Mike Williams was placed on the PUP and Tre Harris still unsigned, Quge was an interesting player this late in the draft.
