The further we get into the fantasy season, the more important it is for fantasy managers to keep going back to the pantry to find tasty fantasy treats to add to their rosters week after week! With injuries piling up around the league, being able to find a player who could go from a fast food waiver wire addition to the best meal of the year will change the outcome of an entire league. The good news is Andy, Mike, and Jason have hit the cookbooks again this week to find players they’re ready to serve up on a dish in this week’s Hungry for More presented by Uber Eats!
Each week throughout the season, the Ballers are putting together a list of players they feel are primed to take a step forward for fantasy managers to fantasy success!
RB – Javonte Williams (DEN)
Week 7 | ||
Carries | Rushing Yards | TDs |
14 | 88 | 2 |
There’s been plenty of reason to feel sick to your stomach with the way Javonte Williams has played to start the year but his Week 7 performance has Andy going back for more. Williams posted his second top-20 RB finish in three games last week against the Saints thanks mainly to his first two TDs on the season. The backfield in Denver has provided plenty of uncertainty but Williams seems to have taken the lead role over the last month, averaging 62% of the RB attempts for the Broncos, up from 44% over the teams’ first three games. What’s more encouraging is that the Denver offense seems to have some positive momentum with rookie QB Bo Nix leading the charge, so there could be more positive weeks for Williams on the horizon.
Week 8 presents a great chance for Williams to continue his hot streak for fantasy managers against the Panthers. Carolina’s defense is allowing a whopping 10 fantasy points over expectation to opposing RBs this season and ranks as the best matchup in the league for the position. Hopefully, Williams will be able to carry any success this week into the back stretch of the season because the path forward is tough for Denver. After this week, four of the Broncos’ next five games come against defenses allowing less than 20 fantasy points to opposing teams’ fantasy RBs. Still, there’s hope that Williams can overtake the Denver backfield and be an option for fantasy managers going forward.
Upcoming Schedule: vs. Carolina, at Baltimore, at Kansas City, vs. Atlanta
RB – Kareem Hunt (KC)
Week 7 | ||
Carries | Rushing Yards | TDs |
22 | 78 | 2 |
From the couch to possibly a fantasy league winner, Kareem Hunt has Jason’s belly growling for more! It only took a week for Hunt to get worked into the offense in Kansas City and there’s been no looking back. In his last two games, Hunt has seen a total of 52 combined opportunities, the most in the NFL. Hunt has seen 38% of the Chiefs’ rush attempts and targets in their last two games, a market share of opportunity that’s only behind Breece Hall. The icing on the cake for Hunt has been the four TDs that have come his way, three of which were in the red zone.
The pathway forward for Hunt to continue being elite for fantasy managers is clear and the matchups are in his favor over the next handful of weeks. In four of the Chiefs’ next six games, they’re facing defenses that are allowing at least four points above expectation to opposing fantasy RBs. For Week 8 in particular, the Raiders’ defense has allowed the eighth-most rushing yards on the season and the third-most rushing TDs. Hunt should continue to be a fantasy-relevant option that fantasy managers can rely on until Isiah Pacheco potentially returns from injury.
Upcoming Schedule: at Las Vegas, vs. Tampa Bay, vs. Denver, at Buffalo
WR – Cedric Tillman (CLE)
Week 7 | ||
Receptions | Receiving Yards | TDs |
8 | 81 | 0 |
There’s been plenty of change in Cleveland due to trades and injuries, but Mike sees Cedric Tillman as a sweet fantasy treat that could come out of it all. After a quiet rookie season for the Browns, Tillman stepped up in the first game without Amari Cooper, finishing as the WR14. Tillman represents the best big-bodied threat on the outside for the new-look Cleveland offense with Jameis Winston set to take over at QB. In the one drive that Winston played last week, Tillman saw three targets, one of which came on a successful two-point conversion attempt.
For fantasy managers who invested in Tillman on the waiver wire this week, there’s an opportunity to play him immediately with a matchup against the Ravens. Baltimore’s defense is allowing the most passing yards per game this season and is the second-best schedule-adjusted matchup for fantasy WRs. The pathway to fantasy success gets tighter after this week with matchups against teams allowing negative points above expectation in the Browns’ next six games. If Tillman can separate himself as the WR to target for Winston, he could still present a strong flex option going forward.
Upcoming Schedule: vs. Baltimore, vs. L.A. Chargers, bye, at New Orleans
