Another week down, another week of good weather games. I’m appreciative of that, because I couldn’t handle bad weather combined with all the injuries on my team. Big news in the weather world, this Sunday is the first day of fall! Pretty soon we’ll be having below-zero snow games and all sorts of other autumnal chaos.
Speaking of chaos, it does look like we’ll be dealing with some weather impacts this week. Read below to find out where and when! Also, read Matt DiSorbo’s article “Whether Weather Really Matters” which will help you make the best-informed decisions for your teams this weekend.
Early Afternoon Games
New York Giants @ Cleveland Browns
LOW impact. It’ll be a nice day during game time in Cleveland, with high temps in the mid-80s with winds in the single digits. There is some rain and increased winds moving into Cleveland after the game, just double-check before game time to make sure it’s not moving in quicker.
Green Bay Packers @ Tennessee Titans
LOW impact. There is a small chance, around 20%, of rain and some thunderstorms during the second half of the game. This will also be a hot and humid game in Nashville, with expected high temps in the mid-90s with heat index (temperature + humidity) in the high-90s. With that level of heat index, there may be a higher chance that players are rotated more. Don’t bench your studs due to this, but don’t be surprised to see them sit a play or two.
Los Angeles Chargers @ Pittsburgh Steelers
LOW impact. Very nice day up in Pittsburgh. Expect light winds and temperatures in the mid-80s. Perfect day for football.
Denver Broncos @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Low impact. Another warm week down in Florida with high temps in the lower-90s during game time. There’s a chance of rain and thunderstorms developing in the second half. However, even if one of these storms occurs near the stadium, it’ll be fairly short-lived and won’t have that much of an impact on the game. Winds will be in the single digits throughout the game.
Late Afternoon Games
Miami Dolphins @ Seattle Seahawks
LOW impact. It’s shaping up to be a great afternoon in the Pacific Northwest, winds will be in the high single digits with temperatures peaking in the high-60s.
Monday Night Game(s)!
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Buffalo Bills
MEDIUM impact. Expecting rain showers to be present throughout the game, right now it doesn’t look like a crazy amount but it’s shaping up to be enough to cause some impacts. Winds will also be slightly increased to the low teens. With these conditions, there may be a heavier reliance on the run game. You’re not going to bench Josh Allen, but if you’re trying to decide on a WR playing in this game vs. a WR playing in a dome (who are similiarly ranked) then I’d lean more toward the dome player.
Washington Commanders @ Cincinnati Bengals
MEDIUM impact. Another Monday night game, another game with rain. Is this a curse because the NFL decided to have two Monday night games? Who knows but this game is shaping up to have more rain, currently sitting at 70% chance of rain throughout the Cincy area. Same rules apply as the Buffalo game, these conditions will likely benefit the running game.
Weather is a dynamic thing and can change! Keep an eye on your local weather source leading up to kickoff to see if anything changes significantly. Good luck!
